Overview

Description

Software for Renesas' Sub-GHz wireless communication solutions are implemented on the on RX651 microcontroller + RAA604S00 kit, RX65N microcontroller + R9A06G062 kit, RL78/G1H microcontroller, or RX65W-A microcontroller, and it realizes the wireless communication protocol of Wi-SUN profile based on the international standard IEEE802.15.4-2020. The Wi-SUN Alliance, which is a standardization organization, has conducted an interoperability test and our solution has passed this test. In addition, since it is used as Wi-SUN Alliance certification standard parts, you can carry out system design for a wireless network with peace of mind.

RF Driver

The RF transceiver control program performs IEEE802.15.4-2020-compliant wireless communication.

Simple MAC

The Simple MAC program can send and receive broadcast and unicast frames using the RF driver. It is possible to construct simple 1 to N network communication.

Wi-SUN FAN Stack

Wi-SUN FAN is a communication protocol that realizes wide-range area/long-distance communication by suppressing interference and collisions, and features multi-hop and mesh network.

  • Sub-GHz wireless communication is strong against obstacles and can transmit data far away
  • Multi-hop uses relay communication to support up to 24 hops, and realizes long-distance communication
  • Wide-range area is covered by mesh network
  • Stable and robust communication is realized through routing and bypassing the failed node

Multi-hop and Mesh network

Wi-SUN FAN is used around the world as a wireless network for smart meters, and smart cities/smart grids represented by infrastructure management including logistics/building automation, smart streetlights, parking systems, traffic management, and more. Among Low Power Wide Area (LPWA), Wi-SUN FAN is a communication system with multi-hop (multi-stage relay) and mesh function to realize stable and robust communication connection covering long-distance communication and dead zone.

The certification test for interconnectivity established by the Wi-SUN Alliance needs to be passed to start using a Wi-SUN FAN stack. This is a long certification process after development. However, Renesas’ Wi-SUN FAN stack is Wi-SUN FAN certified, and has already passed the Wi-SUN alliance interconnection test. Hence, users can use Renesas Wi-SUN FAN stack as a Wi-SUN Alliance certification standard part (TBU – Test Bed Unit) to design your wireless network system with confidence and accelerate the certification process.
