Takeshi Kataoka

Senior Vice President and Head of Operations

Mr. Kataoka serves as Senior Vice President and Head of Operations at Renesas Electronics Corporation since January 2025. He is responsible for leading the Operations organization, which includes Manufacturing, Supply Chain Management, Procurement and Quality. Through the management of this entire organization, he aims to further streamline and scale of operations and strategic initiatives.

He was appointed Senior Vice President and Head of Quality Assurance at Renesas in April 2024. Prior to this role, he served as Senior Vice President, Head of Quality Assurance and Head of Engineering at Renesas from January 2024. Before that, he assumed Senior Vice President and the Co-General Manager of the High Performance Computing, Analog and Power Solutions Group at Renesas, starting in January 2023 and Senior Vice President and the General Manager of the Automotive Business Unit at Renesas, starting in April 2021.

He began his career as an engineer and architect of 32bit MCU in Hitachi, joining the Semiconductor Business Unit in 1993 and served as an architect and Senior Engineer for MUC business. After the joint venture of Hitachi and Mitsubishi Electric was established as Renesas Technology Corporation, he began his career as a Senior Engineer, focusing on the Automotive field, before moving on to becoming the Section Manager of the MCUs Business Unit and the Senior Engineer of the Mobile Multimedia SoC Business Division of the SoC Business Unit at Renesas Electronics Corporation.

After serving as the Director of the Mobile SoC Design Department at Renesas' subsidiary, Renesas Mobile Corporation, he was appointed roles at Renesas Electronics Corporation which leveraged the expertise cultivated in SoCs and MCUs, such as Vice President, the Strategy and Business Planning Unit, and Vice President and the Head of Development/Control Unit, overseeing Automotive Business, and MCUs, SoCs, software and core technology including functional safety, security and networking.

In addition to his M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University, Mr. Kataoka also holds a B.Eng and M.Eng in Applied Physics from the University of Tokyo.
