Impact of the October 7 Earthquake in the Northwest of Chiba Prefecture on Renesas Operation

October 8, 2021

A seismic intensity 5 upper earthquake struck the Kanto region of Japan, with the northwest of Chiba prefecture as the epicenter on October 7 at 22:41 JST.

There was no damage to the buildings, utility and manufacturing equipment at Renesas’ offices and factories located nearby the epicenter, including the company headquarters (Tokyo), Musashi Office (Tokyo), Naka Factory (Ibaraki Prefecture) and Takasaki Factory (Gunma Prefecture). Naka Factory and Takasaki Factory are continuing its operations. However, some equipment at Naka Factory halted operation and are being restarted.

As of October 8 JST, we are assessing the impact of the earthquake on our overall supply chain including the suppliers and partner companies. We will make further announcements once we confirm any incidents that may impact Renesas’ business operations.
