Overview
Description
The rise in respiratory conditions such as COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) and complications from COVID-19 has led to increased demand for devices like oxygen concentrators, which provide oxygen therapy. These concentrators work by selectively removing nitrogen from a gas supply to deliver oxygen-rich airflow, aiding patient breathing.
This controller for oxygen concentrators operates in pressure swing mode, where modes 1 and 2 periodically alternate via control valves to absorb nitrogen, thereby increasing oxygen concentration and clearing nitrogen through reverse airflow.
System Benefits:
- The RA Arm® Cortex®-M MCU supports the Flexible Software Package (FSP), built on FreeRTOS, and is expandable to other RTOSes and middleware, making it adaptable to various features and requirements.
- Features a user interface via LCD + Touch and/or GUI via Bluetooth®, connectable to a smartphone for real-time data and flexible control.
- Operates on a standard medical-grade power supply (~24VDC) for compatibility.
Comparison
Applications
- People suffering from breathing problems benefit and get pain relief by either:
- CPAP + oxygen concentration relief via constant purified oxygen
- Pulse oxygen concentrator depending on individual breath rate
- Further specialized use cases
