Are you aware that there are many evaluation boards (also known as target boards) available to evaluate each RL78 microcontroller series? To reduce the complexity and after taking in customers’ feedback on needing an evaluation board that enables them to write and debug a program with no additional tools, we released the Fast Prototyping Board.
The high-performance RL78/G14 Fast Prototyping Board is a very popular kit that tops our sales chart. With the high popularity received from the RL78/G14 Fast Prototyping Board, we noticed that our customers value its good cost performance with embedded Arduino, Pmod™ and other expanded functions. Hence, we decided to release the second series, which is the RL78/G1P Fast Prototyping Board, using the latest RL78/G1P microcontroller.
RL78/G1P Fast Prototyping Board Usage Examples
The RL78/G1P Fast Prototyping Board features Arduino Nano and Pmod™ interfaces. The Pmod™ module has, for example, a USB-UART converter that can easily connect to a personal computer (PC) by connecting the USB-UART converter to the Pmod™ connector. After which, the debug information will be shown on the PC. In addition, the Pmod™ module also has a display module and various data can be displayed by connecting to it, which is useful for creating PoCs (proof of concepts) for sensor application products.
RL78/G1P Microcontroller
The RL78/G1P microcontroller used in this Fast Prototyping Board sits on a small pin count of 24/32 pins and is equipped with both a 12-bit A/D converter and a 10-bit D/A converter. The RL78/G1P series is the only series having the 10-bit D/A converter in the RL78 family and is highly recommended for applications that require a space-saving and high-resolution D/A.
The RL78/G1P microcontrollers have product lineups in the QFP package and an even smaller QFN (4mm) package, both of which are available for mass production orders.
