General-Purpose Products

General-Purpose Products

Renesas processor IPs are developed for Renesas MCU and system-on-chip (SoC) products. We partner with third parties to provide a wide variety of utilities, including development tools, software support, and more. Through these partnerships, you can use Renesas processor IPs while leveraging a broad selection of third-party utilities and knowledge. New and existing customers can use Renesas IPs with a variety of assets comparable to general-purpose devices.

Microcontrollers

Microcontrollers

Optimization
Within a single chip, you can standardize multiple microcontrollers and integrate user functions. Standardization and integration reduce the number of required parts and simplify inventory management and other related processes. MCU features, such as pin functions, can be predefined in hardware, eliminating the need for software-based initialization. Additionally, implementing critical processing in hardware can accelerate processing.

Using Renesas MCU Assets
Use your existing software developed for Renesas MCUs, processors, and FPGAs. Our scalable software platforms offer flexible tools, including drivers for Renesas MCUs.

Reuse & Maintenance
Retain your combination of hardware (IP) and software to maintain development quality and enable long-term use. You can easily transfer your hardware and software combination to the ideal device for your application—or just a subset of your combination applied to specific systems.

Application-Specific LSIs

Application-Specific LSIs

The benefits of implementing processor IPs is in application-specific large-scale integrations (LSIs) vary for each IP.

Small Size
Soft macro IPs can help optimize various processes, offering flexibility across different technologies. By selecting the most suitable process for your LSIs that use a processor IP, you can achieve significant reductions in chip size. Integrating your application-specific LSI and microcontroller streamlines system design—reducing hardware complexity and increasing scalability.

MCU & Software Control Convenience
MCU and software control provide simple and efficient system control, such as detecting the target system's status and configuring the LSI mode. They also enable easy tuning, including parameter adjustments for each target system. Implementing new functions in software simplifies new system development and allows for easy function modifications after deployment. Additionally, built-in timers facilitate mechanical control.

FPGAs

FPGAs

Mass production with FPGAs is growing, increasing the flexibility to update specifications and add functions. Implementing Renesas processor IPs on FPGAs allows you to perform early and preliminary system evaluation, as well as develop proofs of concept (PoCs) and prototypes, including software. Our FPGA MCUs support analog input and output using FPGA resources and external devices. These devices use the same register interface as general-purpose MCUs and support an extended interface to add peripheral functions. Additionally, you can integrate FPGA and MCU functions in one device by using an FPGA that includes processor IP.
