Evaluation Systems for the F5728 mmWave Up/Down-Converter
The F5728 Evaluation System is designed to help users evaluate the F5728 upconverter/downconverter device.
The F5728 is a highly integrated mmWave up/down-converter used in 5G beamforming applications targeting n257/n258/n261 bands. The device utilizes real-IF heterodyne architecture to convert 2GHz to 7GHz IF signals to the 5G NR FR-2 bands spanning the 24.25 GHz to 29.5 GHz spectrum. Low-side local oscillator (LO) injection is used for both bands. External LO feed requirements are eased by the device’s two sequential on-chip LO frequency doublers which yield net multiplication factors of either 2x or 4x. All RF, IF, and LO ports employ single-ended 50Ω impedances for ease of integration into the signal path.
The F5728 is controlled through an advanced high-speed SPI protocol and packaged in 4.0 × 4.0 mm, 49-BGA package. It is rated for operation over the -40°C to 105°C temperature range.
