Overview
Description
This smart bicycle tail light and alarm system allows users to select different blinking patterns for various riding situations, such as stops, braking, and emergencies. Users can also trigger a horn as an alarm system and theft deterrent. A Bluetooth® Low Energy (LE) system-on-chip (SoC) serves as the central control unit, reading data from a connected accelerometer and controlling the LEDs and horn. To maximize the horn's sound pressure, it is driven by an H-bridge equipped, I2C-controlled high-voltage GreenPAK™ (HVPAK™) programmable mixed-signal matrix, powered by the reverse boost voltage of the charger PMIC. Additionally, different LED configurations can be selected, utilizing the Bluetooth LE SoC's integrated ADC and the PMIC's adjustable boost output voltage in combination with the HVPAK's second H-bridge to control, for example, two different LED colors without additional discrete switches.
System Benefits:
- The ultra-compact design includes a Bluetooth LE SoC, switching charger with reverse boost, and I2C-controlled dual H-bridge power control and driver device.
- Allows customization of LED light settings, including brightness, color, and blink patterns, to adapt to different riding situations such as stops, braking, and emergencies.
- Utilizes a full-bridge driver to maximize the horn's sound pressure, enhancing its effectiveness as an alarm and theft deterrent.
- Features an automatic alarm system that uses the Bluetooth LE received signal strength indicator (RSSI) to detect unauthorized movement, enhancing security.
