Product Limitation
Renesas Starter Kit+ for RZ/A1H Product Limitation (22 Oct 2014)
A limitation exists on a batch of Renesas Starter Kit+ for RZ/A1H Products.
Product Affected:
Products affected are identified with number D012221#03, D012221#02, D012221#01.
Products marked with D012221#04 or greater on the type label do not have following limitation.
Limitation:
When resistor R92 is mounted on the RSK+RZA1H board, SD Host Interface does not work correctly. The identified boards were shipped with this resistor fitted.
Explanation:
The effect is to corrupt SD transfers affecting bits 1 and 5 of a byte.
Work-around:
Remove resistor R92 on the RSK+RZA1H board. (R92 is in near at the SD/MMC card socket)
Product Note
Renesas Starter Kit+ for RZ/A1H Product Note (8 Feb 2016)
Product Affected:
All products.
Explanation:
USB decoupling capacitor and VBUS power circuit of this board cannot be recommended. Please do not refer this capacitor value and USB circuit for your target system design.
Decoupling capacitor C1, C2, C4, C5, C6, C7, C9 and C10 are not recommend value.
When the RZ/A1H is used as a host controller, the additional capacity of the VBUS line should be designed to be 120μF or more.
Recommendation:
Please refer to the recommend value and guideline of Application Note "Guidelines for Hi-Speed USB 2.0 Board Design (REJ05B1216-0100)
(PDF)".
In addition, please refer to RZ/A1H Group,RZ/A1M Group User's Manual: Hardware about Table 3 and 4 in Application Note.

Product Affected:
Products affected are identified with number D012221#04, D012221#03, D012221#02, D012221#01.
Observation:
When resistors R128, R152, R205 and R297 are mounted on the RSK+RZA1H board, USB signals become degraded. The identified boards were shipped with this resistor fitted.
Explanation:
The effect of these 22 Ohm resistors being fitted is degradation of the D+ and D- signals.
Work-around:
R128, R152, R205 and R297 are 22 Ohm resistors. Replace these 22 Ohm resistors with 0 Ohm resistors on the RSK+RZA1H board.
Bottom side view: R128, R152, R205 and R297 are within the two red boxes.
