Designers Can Reduce Board Space, Bill of Materials and Design Time
SAN JOSE, Calif., May 20, 2015--Integrated Device Technology, Inc. (IDT®) (NASDAQ: IDTI) today introduced new versions of its VersaClock® 5 programmable clock generators, featuring built-in crystals for a simpler, more cost-effective approach to electronic systems timing. The 5P49V5933 and 5P49V5935 deliver the innovative features of IDT’s VersaClock 5 clock generators while reducing board space and cost through the integration of a crystal. With an integrated frequency source, designers no longer have to incorporate an external crystal in their design and are spared the effort involved with frequency tuning.
VersaClock 5 programmable timing devices feature excellent jitter performance at half the power of competing devices and offer universal output pairs that are independently configurable as LVDS, LVPECL, HCSL, or dual LVCMOS. The multi-output timing solution consolidates system components with superior design flexibility, making it ideal for cost-sensitive, low-power consumer as well as low-jitter communications applications. Integration of a crystal effectively turns the device into a programmable crystal oscillator, and removes even more components from a design.
“By integrating a crystal into our latest VersaClock 5 devices, we have developed a unique and innovative timing product with a host of customer benefits,” said Kris Rausch, general manager of IDT’s multi-market timing division. “Design teams get all the benefits of the original VersaClock 5—exceptional jitter and power performance—plus the time- and cost-saving of not dealing with a crystal.”
The 5P49V5933 can generate up to two output frequencies, while the 5P49V5935 generates up to four. The devices come in compact 4-by-4-millimeter packages. An impressive 700 fsec RMS phase jitter performance enables customers to meet the requirements of 1G/ 10G Ethernet and PCI Express Gen 1, 2, 3 along with other high-performance interconnects, and meets the clock-generation requirements for SoCs and FPGAs. The devices feature a low core current consumption of only 30 mA.
