April 18, 2024

A magnitude 6.6 earthquake, measuring a weak 6 on Japan’s seismic intensity scale, struck off the west coast of Shikoku island on April 17 at 11:14 p.m. JST.

There was no damage to the buildings, utility and manufacturing equipment of Renesas Saijo Factory (Ehime Prefecture), Oita Factory (Oita Prefecture), Kawashiri Factory (Kumamoto Prefecture) and Nishiki Factory (Kumamoto Prefecture) which are located near the epicenter. While some equipment halted operation at Saijo and Kawashiri Factories, there is no impact to the factories’ production.

As of 9:00 a.m., April 18 JST, we are assessing the impact of the earthquake on our overall supply chain including the suppliers and partner companies. We will make further announcements if we confirm any incidents that may impact Renesas’ business operations.
