Battery Management:
Renesas battery management solutions are built around our fuel-gauge ICs, which are solutions in a package that include an embedded low-power RL78 MCU with an analog front end including MOSFET drivers, a fuel-gauging algorithm, and authentication options. Our fuel gauges are available in options for battery packs from 1S to 10S+. They are often bundled with our compact, ultra-low Rss (on) common drain MOSFETs to form a compact, efficient, and accurate battery management solution.
Power Management ICs for DC/DC:
Renesas has expanded its portfolio of Simple DC/DC Power ICs, offering wide voltage inputs up to 16V input and 30V input, making them well suited for a variety of embedded processing solutions. These include a high-efficiency synchronous buck regulator that delivers up to 3A continuous current to loads. In addition, these Simple Power ICs have several benefits, including automatic low-power mode, low quiescent current, and an optional battery backup function to reduce power consumption. The battery backup feature is used in applications where critical power rails are needed when there is a power outage.
For higher power DC/DC conversion where space is limited, such as in solid-state drives,Renesas' miniPOL lineup provides best-in-class power density, compactness, and efficiency for DC to DC conversion from a 12V input rail.
