TOKYO, Japan, March 16, 2017 - Renesas Electronics Corporation (TSE:6723), a premier supplier of advanced semiconductor solutions, has been named by Clarivate Analytics among their 2016 Top 100 Global Innovators.The award acknowledges the most innovative corporations and institutions that lead world businesses by protecting their ideas for creative and original inventions with intellectual property rights and succeed in converting those ideas to businesses. This is the first time Renesas has been awarded with the title of Top 100 Global Innovator. As commemoration, Clarivate Analytics presented a trophy to Renesas.
Clarivate Analytics is an information science business that was formerly the Intellectual Property & Science business of Thomson Reuters. Every year, based on the patent related data that the company holds, Clarivate Analytics selects the top 100 companies based on four main criteria:
“Volume”: the number of patents granted, “Success”: the ratio of patents granted to patents applied for), “Globalization”: the number of patents applied for at the government agency in charge of patents in China, Europe, Japan, and the US, and “Influence”: the number of times patents are referenced.
Clarivate Analytics commented that they have acknowledged Renesas for its particularly outstanding scores in the “Success” and “Influence” areas.
The award indicates the globally-recognized success and value of Renesas solutions born from the originality and innovativeness of its technologies.
