Description

Connections between equipment for data transfer and power are being revolutionized by the adoption of USB Power Delivery or USB PD. This is a version of USB that allows up to 100W to be passed in either direction.

The R9A02G011 USB power controller along with the ISL81401 buck-boost controller enables users to create a high-efficiency USB Type-C charger. The ISL81401 has an internal bias supply and can power the R9A02G011. A separate buck converter, the ISL85413, is used to push the efficiency further and make the system reliable and efficient.

System Benefits:

  • High-efficiency architecture uses a synchronous buck-boost controller for the main power stage
  • ISL81413 is a 42V buck converter for bias supply
