AUTOSAR, AUTomotive Open System ARchitecture
AUTOSAR, a worldwide development partnership of automotive oriented companies, founded in 2003, aims to establish an open and standardized software architecture for Electric Control units. The AUTOSAR standard targets to manage growing software and ECU complexity to improve performance, safety, as well as modification of product update over lifetime.
AUTOSAR is a development process that increases automotive software reusability, enables stable quality and reliability, and reins in software-related costs. AUTOSAR has three key features.
Renesas' Activities
Renesas, registered as a premium member of AUTOSAR partnership since July 2004 and so deeply involved in standardization activities , provides production ready MCAL (Micro Controller Abstraction Layer) SW components for Renesas automotive Microcontrollers based on major AUTOSAR release platform version 3.x and 4.x. The development process of MCAL SW for Renesas Safety MCU ‘s is compliant towards ISO26262.
