Overview
Description
Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding, also known as Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW), is a method that uses a non-consumable tungsten electrode to generate heat and weld materials, primarily thin metals like aluminum. As automation and precision become more vital in manufacturing, the demand for advanced welding controllers grows. Industries are shifting towards more efficient, compact, and feature-rich systems that integrate safety measures and wireless connectivity. A greater focus on worker safety has led to the integration of gas detection and an optimized human machine interface (HMI), making welding systems safer and easier to use.
This TIG welding controller design is a complete DC + AC/DC TIG programmable welding control system. It offers precise, wide-range arc-current measurement, allowing for accurate control over welds. It incorporates gas sensors to effectively detect hazardous by-products of the welding process, such as ozone, enhancing safety. Additionally, it includes an IR multi-touch HMI that accurately detects touch input even when wearing gloves, and wireless connectivity for real-time system control and monitoring.
System Benefits:
- Precise, wide-range arc-current measurement on the secondary side provides accurate control over welding current, leading to higher quality welds and improved process efficiency.
- Detection of ozone and other dangerous gases enhances work environment safety by monitoring gas levels in real time.
- Isolated controller for high-side measurements and control maintains system stability and protection from electrical interference.
- IR multi-touch HMI display, operable with gloves, allows operators to control the system easily, improving safety and convenience in harsh industrial settings.
- Wireless connectivity via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth® Low Energy (LE) enables remote monitoring and control of the welding system.
- Integrated water-cooling control circuitry optimizes cooling for the system, allowing the welding tool to be compact.
