Overview

Description

The need for advanced detection technology is critical for enhanced security, situational awareness, and premise monitoring. Traditional radar systems operate on lower frequency bands and use a rotating dome for a 360° surround view. The Renesas Ku-Band beamforming system offers a 90° field of view (FoV) from a static plane by adjusting the beam amplitude and phase, providing higher resolution and better detection capabilities for small objects. Coupled with 4 planes, this system enables a 360° surround view from a mechanically static point, ideal for drone detection and airport safety.

System Benefits​:

  • The Ku-Band (~14GHz) provides high-resolution detection for small objects within a nearby area (<5km).
  • Static plane beamforming enhances system reliability and reduces maintenance by eliminating mechanical rotation.
  • 360° continuous monitoring can be achieved by using 4 static planes, eliminating delays associated with mechanical systems.
