Overview
Description
The RA6T2 MCU and RAA227063 3-phase smart driver offer the perfect combination for processing speed and power efficiency to address traction motors that have very small form factor limitations and a wide breadth of power requirements. The RAA227063 integrates power management to power the driver and the MCU directly from the battery reducing overall circuitry. Its programmability allows customers to optimize the inverter power stage and address different power levels by simply changing the MOSFETs and tuning slew rate, dead time and gate drive via software. Using two inductive position sensors, the customer can replace the large and costly optical encoder. The inductive position sensor can provide the absolute position information and it can provide the incremental position sensing up to 17 bits of resolution using the four of the 12-bit ADCs of the RA6T2 MCU.
System Benefits:
- Small form factor: Both the RA6T2 MCU and RAA227063 3-Phase driver are available in 7mm x 7mm 48-pin QFN packages
- Analog integration: Includes power management power driver and supports the MCU directly via battery
- Programmability optimal inverter tuning: Motor sensing modes, dead time, slew rate, and gate drive voltage
- Accelerators: Offers optimized current vector control, filter operation and reduced main CPU core (Arm® Cortex®-M33) load for additional functions
- Two inductive position sensors can provide absolute and incremental rotor position
- The system is designed to minimize the overall BOM cost, reduce size and displace optical encoders that take up a lot of space in the motor and are very expensive
