[Ra’anana, Israel]: Celeno Communications, a leading provider of smart, innovative Wi-Fi solutions, was selected as a finalist in the prestigious Haier TechLink Challenge for their Wi-Fi Doppler Imaging technology.
Haier Smart Home, a leading global home appliances and consumer electronics company, hosted an innovation challenge that evaluated nearly 100 submitted applications by top European and Israeli companies with innovative Smart Sensing Technologies for Smart Home solutions. Celeno’s Wi-Fi Doppler Imaging solution, a breakthrough technology in event recognition and analytics, was selected to be promoted to Haier’s worldwide R&D centers for implementing advanced sensing solutions in their Smart Home appliances.
The Wi-Fi Doppler Imaging technology leverages Celeno’s Wi-Fi 6 silicon to generate high-resolution Doppler Radar images to track objects and depict their behavior. It detects and tracks the movement and location of people, pets, and objects.
This non-invasive technology can be incorporated with standard Wi-Fi networks or alternatively be deployed as dedicated low-cost sensors. Either will achieve the desired insights without the need for any wearable devices and without using cameras that can compromise privacy.
The imaging technology can classify motions and postures such as walking, falling, sitting down, standing up, etc. It can also detect breathing, hand gestures and sense the presence of objects. This data could be valuable to assess the day-to-day health conditions and vitality level of family members.
“Adding Wi-Fi sensing technology to home appliances can allow for a multitude of smart home improvements, letting your technology ecosystem know when and where you are in your home and even recognize body postures, so that it can tailor functions around the way you live,” said Lior Weiss, VP Marketing and Business Development at Celeno. “We are looking forward to working with Haier Smart Home on implementing advanced sensing solutions that can leverage our Wi-Fi Doppler Imaging technology in smart appliances. Our imaging technology can add a layer of safety and security to the home and will enable the development of many applications for smart home monitoring of the activities of daily living, safety and well-being of people in their homes.”
“We are excited to introduce Celeno to the Haier Smart Home ecosystem” said Daniel Oleiski, CEO of Haier Israel Innovation Center. “Haier Smart Home focuses on creating better life solutions for global users, and we look forward to leveraging Celeno’s Wi-Fi Doppler Imaging technology into Haier’s products”.
As a finalist, Celeno will attend the next Haier Global R&D Summit which is planned for March 2021 in Haier’s global headquarters in Qingdao, China.
