Whether you are designing a system using Brushed DC Motors, Brushless DC (BLDC) Motors/Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors (PMSM), Induction Motors, or Stepper Motors, Renesas provides easy-to-use hardware, software, and tools to accelerate your development and help you bring your innovative designs to life.
Renesas supports many different control algorithms to drive various motor types. Sample code is available for Vector Control (Field Oriented Control), Sinusoidal Control, Trapezoidal Control, Stepper Control, and DC Motor PWM control applications. These motor control methods provide unique features to meet various end application needs.
Depending on your use-case, the required sensor is different to detect the speed or position of the motor. Renesas offers sample code for common motor control sensors, such as Hall Sensors, Encoders, Resolvers, Inductive Sensors, as well as Sensor-less control.
Renesas offers a wide variety of MCU / MPUs to meet your application needs with features such as: Real-time Control, Industrial Ethernet, and Functional Safety.
Reduce BOM count and meet small form factor requirements with Renesas’ user-programmable HVPAK™ devices that combine mixed-signal logic and motor drive.
Take advantage of highly efficient gate drivers, fast-switching IGBTs, and Power MOSFETs tailored for motor control systems.
Leverage comprehensive Motor Control Winning Combinations, Solution Kits, and sample software to jump start your evaluation and development.
MCK-xxx motor control kits include an inverter board paired with a compatible CPU board, motor and, for some target products only, a communication board. Also, Renesas provides an inverter board (MCI-HV-1) for high voltage motor control evaluation which is compatible with a dedicated CPU board. You can easily connect to your board design by using the communication board (MC-COM) for safe debugging of motor applications. Evaluation kits other than MCK-xxx kits also include a motor and inverter board and can be used along with separately sold CPU boards.
On the full kit pages listed in the table below, you can also find kit components such as CPU boards and access sample software customized for motor control kits, evaluation systems, and inverter boards.
